LANSA Data Sync Direct

Synchronization is the key

A paradigm shift is happening in the way supply chains perform. Those with the leanest supply chain and the most efficient means to execute their business gain a significant advantage. To make this happen, suppliers and retailers need to communicate in a more efficient manner by enabling collaborative electronic commerce. Global Data Synchronization (GDS) is a worldwide initiative intended to resolve product data inaccuracies among trading partners.

The physical implementation of Global Data Synchronization, the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN), enables country-specific Data Pools – such as 1SYNC (UCCnet and Transora) – to register GTIN information in the GS1 Global Registry™. Once registered, GTIN information can be published to any trading partner worldwide that subscribes to a GDSN certified data pool. LANSA Data Sync Direct is a scalable business solution that makes it easy to comply with retailer requests for data synchronization.

The GDSN value proposition

Essentially, the GDSN facilitates the synchronization of item data between source and recipient trading partners, thereby reducing the flow of inaccurate information to the retailer, which results in lost shelf time and costly deductions. Supply-side organizations gain access to the GDSN via their chosen data pool for the purpose of registering and publishing GTINs. The GDSN ensures that all subscribing trading partners are synchronizing standards-compliant data.

LANSA has a compelling solution

To implement global data synchronization for supply-side trading partners, item data needs to be extracted from your line-of-business systems and sent to your chosen Data Pool via XML messages. This can be a daunting task for those suppliers who are unfamiliar with Internet-based B2B transactions involving their line-of-business or ERP systems.

LANSA's synchronization solution is a scalable end-to-end business solution that takes the uncertainty out of complying with retailer requests for exchanging item information via the GDSN. By far, the larger value of item data synchronization is truly managing your GTIN activity behind your firewall – by means of workflow and an easy-to-use browser interface – to maintain on-going data alignment with trading partners. Simple message translators only address the transport and don't address enterprise integration or the process life cycle.

LANSA Data Sync Direct is a turnkey solution that is installed on your server of choice and integrates with your single point-of-truth or item-of-record database (a typical ERP system component). Transactions are sent directly to the data pool from that server without the need for third-party exchanges or encryption/transport software. You own the software and can transmit to the GSDN without any per-transaction costs associated with third parties.

For those companies with only a handful of GTINs, there is an inexpensive hosted option, using the same browser-based interface.

Additionally, those larger companies wishing to initially deploy only a small number of GTINs may want LANSA to host their data until they're ready to integrate with their systems. LANSA offers an easy migration path because the solution is the same, whether hosted or directly integrated on your server. Contact your LANSA representative for more information.
